Why work with me

A future where all decisions are informed by high-quality evidence.

I am a guideline methodology expert combining delivery experience with international methodological leadership.

My mission

To work with guideline-producing organisations, to strengthen their capability and develop high-quality, evidence-based guidelines.

Methodology and practice in guideline development

I work with organisations to strengthen guideline development processes, improve methodological rigour, and build practical capability that enables high-quality, evidence-based guidelines.

My approach combines extensive hands-on delivery experience with active involvement in advancing guideline methodology internationally.

Clarity from complexity

Guideline development often involves uncertainty, competing frameworks, and complex governance requirements. I help organisations navigate these constraints, make informed methodological choices, and design approaches that are appropriate for their specific context. This ensures guideline development processes are methodologically robust, coherent and embedded within organisational practice. Rather than applying fixed models, my approach focuses on translating complexity into structured, context-appropriate decision-making.

Experience and delivery

Over the past seven years alone, I have led six clinical guidelines to completion, led several others through substantial development, and contributed to additional guidelines completed by wider teams. I am a certified guideline methodologist, with experience spanning end-to-end involvement in guideline programmes, from topic selection and evidence review to stakeholder engagement and publication, as well as applying adaptation, adoption, and de novo approaches to recommendation development within existing guideline methodologies.

This work often took place in areas where the evidence base was limited or of very low quality, requiring careful interpretation, methodological judgement, and structured decision-making in complex environments. This experience has given me a practical understanding of how guideline development works in real organisations and not just in theory.

Methodology leadership

I am actively involved in advancing guideline methodology through participation in international guideline development networks, including working groups within GIN. This includes contributing to methodological discussions, collaborative projects, and the development of practical tools to support guideline development practice.

My work remains closely connected to international efforts to improve the transparency, consistency, and usability of guideline methodologies.

What this means for your organisation

This combination of practical delivery experience and methodological involvement brings applied understanding and up-to-date methodological insight into guideline development.

I adapt my approach to the specific context of each organisation, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model.

This supports not only methodological quality, but also organisational credibility, transparency, and confidence in decision-making.

Wider contribution

Alongside this work, I am committed to supporting capacity building in guideline development, including helping early-career professionals gain practical experience and contributing to the wider sharing of methodological knowledge.

I also engage with emerging areas such as environmental sustainability, strengthening standards for methodological rigour, governance, and unbiased decision-making. A further focus of my work is improving the feedback loop between guideline development and primary research, ensuring that gaps identified in recommendations inform future research priorities.

Bringing it together

I bring structured thinking to complex problems, helping organisations move from uncertainty to clarity and confidence in how they develop and implement guidelines.
